Sales Engineer

Main Job Purpose

  • Responsible for providing pre and post-sales support to the sales teams and Zycko customers
  • The role may require the delivery of authorised vendor training through Zycko ATP agreements
  • Adhere to the company’s ISO 9001, 27001 and BSI standards at all times


  • Provide support for the Zycko Technical Portfolio for the sales, marketing and support teams as required, including (but not limited to) pre-sales advice, on site meetings and presentations, solution design, technical authoring/response creation, POC, installation and support/troubleshooting
  • Ensure that all documentation that is created is of a suitable technical standard, in line with company branding guidelines and in compliance with quality control procedures/standards as set down in the ISO quality management policy.
  • Take ownership for assigned internal and external projects within the remit of Professional Services, as agreed with the Group/Regional Technical Lead
  • Maintain excellent knowledge of competitive products/technologies and utilize key points to establish Zycko technology solutions as the products of choice to the user and channel partner
  • Act as vendor liaison to selected product sets as required to achieve thorough product knowledge transfer into the wider technical community
  • Ensure that all technical documentation pertaining to the work of the Professional Services team along with all vendor/product information is maintained in the relevant centralised documentation repositories
  • Operate the helpdesk system for all tasks required and record time for such tasks
  • The option to participate in out of hours Level 2 Customer support & LM services rota may be available
  • Delivery of Professional Services may require out of hours or weekend work to be completed
  • Comply with the operational directives of the Professional Services department as advised by the Group Professional Services Operations Manager
  • Develop and maintain technical qualifications with a clear focus on business objectives as agreed with the Group/Regional Technical Lead

Skills / Attributes Required

  • Sound knowledge of IP and Networking Technologies
  • Exposure to & understanding of virtualisation platforms & wintel application stack
  • Ability to articulate & present a clear technical message to all levels of customer & internal resource
  • Understanding of commercial landscape and ability to convey value & ROI of Zycko Technical portfolio
  • Industry recognised intermediate to advanced data networking certifications
  • Willingness to attend customer locations within the local office region, with occasional EU based travel required
  • Ability to prioritise and manage work load accordingly
  • Ability to work individually or as part of a team
  • Ability to interact with people on both business and technical issues, and to build lasting effective professional relationships
  • Full driving licence required
